Learning a Language with Winter Fairy Tales: What Language Do Snowflakes Speak?

Snowflakes floating in the magical silence of winter... It is difficult to think of a more impressive scene to activate children's imagination. So, if snowflakes could talk, what language would they speak?
This question is a great starting point for teaching children a foreign language in a creative and fun way.

In this article, we explain how you can support language learning through small dialogues by personifying snowflakes. Both simple and effective; literally a “learning with winter fairy tale” method.

Why Snowflakes Are a Great Language Learning Tool

Snowflakes offer children two powerful elements: imagination and simplicity.
Each snowflake can speak a different language, have a different tone of voice or character. Children easily visualize these characters and bond with them.

Thus, learning new words ceases to be a complicated task; It turns into a warm and cute winter story.

Simple Dialogues with Little Snowflakes

You can start by giving each snowflake a name. Then, you can ask your child to create short dialogues between these snowflakes in the language he has learned.
These small conversations allow words to be used in a natural context and make learning enjoyable.

How Does This Method Speed Up Language Learning?

• Words are learned in a meaningful context.
• Repetition occurs effortlessly and naturally.
• Storytelling evokes emotion.
• New words specific to the winter theme are easily adopted.
